My Story
Once upon a time there was a little girl who would go for walks in the Countryside and the local Woods where her father loved to tell her stories of Squirrels, Foxes and Badgers and how they went about their business shopping at the Oak Store and even went to the doctors at Birch Hospital.

She also had a mum who would make clothes, sometimes from her own drawn patterns, and would give the scraps of fabric to eagerly awaiting little hands to play and create with.
Naturally I grew up loving British wildlife, influenced by my father along with stories created by Beatrix Potter and Enid Blyton.

With my love of British Wildlife combined with the pleasure from creating, it was a natural progression to get to where I am today designing and lovingly stitching OOAK Mohair Bears & Critters for the child we all still hold inside us.

My heart continues to maintain the dream that Woodland Critters go about their business as we do, shopping at the Oak Store in the heart of Blinkley Wood

I also believe that toys come alive at night - don't you ? :)
Lifelong Love of Creating
I have sewn and played with fabric as a little girl.
I followed in my mother's footsteps and I even drew up patterns to make my own Maternity clothes, I worked for Lloyds Bank at the time and maternity wear did not have appropriate choices for the office.

Two daughters later, and lots of nieces and nephews, I continued creating, making dolls, bears and monsters.

When I discovered Traditional Bear making in the 1980s I was instantly hooked, but it wasn't until my daughters grew up and had started their own lives that I began to sell my own designs and creations which was over 10 years ago.

I now have the pleasure to also create special bears and critters, even a 12 foot snake for my grand-son so its also a "Made by Grand-ma " period of my life
My Old toys

I've always loved old Bears and toys, and still have a few of my childhood toys, that hold great sentimental value. Some are original, some sadly I had to search for replacements, not all survived,as you no doubt have experienced, the clear out for a visit from Father Christmas. Not surprising in our household of nine children, I feel blessed I managed to keep hold of a few of my special old chums.

From this love of creating, the love of the old and the understanding of being able
to keep hold of an old furry chum it comes as no surprise that I am compelled to rescue and save Antique & Vintage Bears.

Friends and Family asked me to save their old chums, and from word of mouth the circle of restored Bears got bigger.
These two, 60's well loved bears belong to me and my husband.
You cannot tell, but they used to be pink and blue, what a perfect match.

A little side note mine is the blue one !
